This case study showcases the modernization of a healthcare analytics platform to boost scalability and performance. The client, now part of a larger health data platform, focuses on value-based care. They deliver actionable insights by processing large volumes of clinical and provider data.
The Problem
The existing solution was a monolithic Java application paired with Tableau. This architecture was limiting the company’s ability to scale, adapt to new product lines, and meet modern performance expectations. A complete architectural overhaul was deemed essential to support continued growth and innovation. The healthcare analytics dashboard specifically needed to migrate from this Java-based monolithic application using Tableau to a more modern architecture.
The Challenge
The key challenges in this transition included:
• Scalability: Managing data from over 675,000 suppliers and 300,000 clinics.
• Architecture Modernization: Shifting from a monolithic structure to a more flexible architecture without disrupting service. This required significant changes in design and technology while maintaining system stability.
• Product Segmentation: Structuring the platform into distinct, purpose-driven products. This involved splitting the product into separate offerings.
• Automation: Enabling automated environment provisioning across the development lifecycle. This meant setting up automated workflows for integration, staging, and production environments.
The Solution
Darwoft led a full modernization initiative that included:
• Scalable Data Pipeline: Rebuilt the data pipeline to efficiently collect, process, and analyze data at scale.
• Modular Architecture: Migrated to a modern, modular system built with NodeJS and Python for improved flexibility, maintainability, and scalability. This replaced the Java monolith.
• Product Diversification: Developed two clear product lines56: an analytics dashboard for healthcare professionals and a secure API-driven data marketplace. This created two separate distinct product offerings.
• CI/CD Automation: Deployed CircleCI and Terraform for seamless provisioning of integration, staging, and production environments. This implemented automated environments, enhancing deployment speed and reliability.
"Darwoft enabled the transformation
of a legacy healthcare analytics platform into a scalable, cloud-integrated solution
, accelerating insights, enhancing security, and supporting product diversification."
The Conclusion
This transformation enabled the company to scale its healthcare analytics offerings, support diverse user needs, and deliver high-quality insights faster. With a modern tech stack and automated infrastructure, they are now equipped to meet the growing demands of the value-based care ecosystem. The tailored digital experience allows the healthcare analytics company to scale its offerings, support various user needs, and deliver insights more quickly.
